Privacy policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

This policy explains how Maverick Merchant (ABN 13 975 805 377) ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, protects and discloses personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). It applies to our website maverickmerchant.com.au, our forms and guides, our social media and advertising, and any dealings you have with us by phone, SMS or email.

The short version. We only ask for what we need to help your business. If you send us a merchant statement, we use it to work out what you're paying and what's available to you, and nothing else. We don't sell your information. We only share your statement with a payment provider if you ask us to get a quote or set something up. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

1. What we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, racial or religious information), and we never need your full card numbers or online banking passwords. Please don't send them. If we receive information we didn't ask for and don't need, we destroy or de-identify it.

You can ask us general questions without identifying yourself. To prepare a business review or a comparison, though, we need to know who you are and see your numbers.

2. How we collect it

3. Why we use it

We use your information to:

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't use your merchant statement for any purpose other than the ones above.

4. Merchant statements and business documents

Merchant statements show your business's card turnover, fees and sometimes your settlement bank account. We treat them as confidential.

5. Who we share it with

We only share what is needed, with:

How we are paid. Maverick Merchant is an independent introducer and is not owned by, or exclusively tied to, any bank or payment provider. We receive commission from providers when a business takes up a product through us. Your business review is free and carries no obligation, and we will tell you where a commission applies before you sign anything.

6. Storage outside Australia

Some of our service providers store information on servers outside Australia. Our customer relationship management system (HighLevel) and Meta are based in the United States and may store or process information there and in other countries where they or their suppliers operate. Before we use a provider, we take reasonable steps to make sure it protects personal information in a way consistent with the APPs, including through its security practices and contractual commitments.

7. Email, SMS and marketing

If you download a guide, ask for a review or become a client, we may send you emails and SMS about your enquiry and our services. Every marketing message identifies us and gives you a simple way to opt out: use the unsubscribe link in any email, reply STOP to any SMS, or email us. We stop within five business days. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Opting out of marketing doesn't stop messages we need to send you about a review or service you've asked for.

8. Cookies, Meta Pixel and advertising

You can manage this by changing your browser settings, or your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings. We do not upload your merchant statement or business documents to any advertising platform.

9. How we keep it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include:

No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee the security of information sent over the internet. If you'd rather not upload documents, talk to us about other options.

10. If something goes wrong

If we become aware of a data breach involving your information, we act quickly to contain it and assess the risk. Where a breach is likely to result in serious harm, we notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
